[TMC] SBT-1KV lives!

You took the words right out of my fingers.  One other note is that  
we designed an overload circuit for the grid, screen, and plate.   
Some of my ex Navy buddies were worse than hams in burning up  
transmitters!  Therefore, you might want to check the pot (check  
manual) for the screen overload adjust.  At TMC engineering dept, we  
picked the PL-172 (8295) tube because it was more robust than the  
4CX1000.  You could draw a mil with the PL-172, but good bye to the  
4CX1000.  A logical modification to your amp would be to replace the  
172 with a 4CX1500 (if you can't get any replacement PL-172s).  I  
have coached a few hams on the process, and the 4CX1500 works like a  
charm with the existing circuitry.

To my knowledge, Tele Signal was never part of TMC.  They did  
manufacture a host of VFTG products nearby Mamaroneck, similar to the  
Panoramic SB-12 Analyzer, Mt. Vernon, NY.
