Hal,
I'm sorry but I have to chuckle a little bit.
My collection of TMC gear has been mostly by luck and a little brute force ( as in winning a bid - not ebay - for my GPT 750 )
My receivers were more recently acquired , one being a gift an the other last year at Dayton ( $100.)
I drove from Cleveland to Ontario for a GPT-750 , and later to Ottowa for a GPT-1K.
The fellow who sold me the GP-750 was one of the most gracious hams I have ever dealt with - and he had a very cool parrot that kept us company through dinner.
That deal was 1/2 trade and 1/2 cash. The cash part was not that much.
The GPT-1K was acquired for little more than a trade of an ol Yaeseu SB301 10w SSB rig. Apparently they make great QRP rigs and that guy was in to QRP.
I later sold those rigs to a very nice gentlemen and his son.
Whom by the way I still owe a box of rectifiers......... John forgive me, but I have not gotten to unpacking that area yet.
Fast forward about three years to 2006 and I ended up paying about $2K for a very nice plug n play GPT-750.
If you google GPT-750 the first link pictured is the transmitter I now own.
My TMC side band adapters for the R390 were ALL acquired for $1 a piece some in the late 80's and two within the last 5 years.
Now on the matter of price. For me it has been luck, but even with the 750 I recently got It was worth it.
Typically however, the stuff is almost like gold. Commanding crazy prices on Ebay. But can you imagine trying to pay retail for that stuff? HA!
But of course, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Darn small world - even smaller when it comes to things Corvair.

Subject: [TMC] Appeal for TMC price information
What did various TMC commercial units sell for? I have not succeeded
in finding any prices of their products, except the GPR-90 and
GPR-92. If this would be of interest to TMC members, I would be happy
to compile a detailed price list for quick reference. Please search
through your TMC literature and email me, or email this list, any
information you have, such as single models, complete system prices,
parts, etc. Include the date, or date approximation, of the price.
