[TMC] GPE Questions

I notice that (and it's been happening since i got the unit) when i turn
on the GPE exciter, whether the key is closed or the mic PTT is
activated, i can hear the carrier or Osc running in the background on my
receiver. I actually hear it on any and all of the receivers i have
tuned to that frequency when they are turned on. If i were to be
operating a spilt frequency configuration it wouldn't be a bother but as
today's operations go, it's noticeable. Wonder if other operators of
this piece of gear have the same situation?

Now to determine if it's a buffer tube that is not cut off or excessive
oscillator rf or just what else.

I know it was worse when i had the VOX hooked to it as a frequency
source. As it is now i'm just using Xtal control and the internal
oscillator.

Suppose this was a hidden problem with the TMC gear and not noticeable
because of either split frequency or split site operations?

Another item of concern is that they do not specify what kind of level
to input audio on the back of the unit at the 600 ohm line inputs. No
where in the manual does it say. The only thing that it mentions is
when tuning the unit, after setting the carrier output to 100 %, adjust
the audio (mod pot) to see 100% modulation. But, what would you expect
the input level to be at that 600 ohm line input point? It doesn't say
so i suspect that the engineering order would say what to run there when
the unit is installed. And maybe it really doesn't matter? What level
of line input audio do you use into a BC transmitter?
