WOrk stoppage! Saw only 1500V on the PA plate and got to wondering why
it weren't 3000 as the book says it should be. Thought it might be
wiring on the primary of the plate tranny. Pulled it out of the bottom
of the rack and removed the top. WOW. Wiring on the primary doesn't
match the schematic. What's this big green resistor with only one wire
on it? Schematic time. Whoa... That's the 90K 160W resistor across the
output of the filter caps. Why is one end not wired! Ha. Easy guess
for someone who has seen that before. Yup, thing is wide open in the
middle someplace.
Anyone out there have a 90K 160W resistor laying around? My next step
would be to purchase a 100K @225W and make up some sort of panel to fit
in the supply where i could mount it. Or use a pair of 50K @ 100 W
units in series. I had to do this before in the power supply of a
PAL-500 so it won't be a major thing but i'd sure like to find an
original replacement. This has a TMC part number on it so that might
make it more difficult.
In the meantime, i'll check out the wiring on the plate tranny primary.
WOnder why this resistor went open anyway. Certainly don't see any
problems with the plate voltage line as far as grounds etc. are
concerned. ALways a reason i suspect.
