Ola Mac,
A few comments from YOUR to do list---->
HARRIS: Gates BC1G 250/1000 Watt AM Transmitter. Fern listed this for sale
on the CCA 20 Meter Sunday Net. Bill N6PY tells me this is a near term
project, thus should not be difficult to operate on 160 meters. We will see.
I refurbed two of these, a while back, mostly takes patience, and a
good scrounging ability to get replacement caps if they haven't already
been swapped out, to get rid of the PCB types.
HARRIS: RF-130 with RF-1310A Exciter, I'd give this a " difficult" rating,
several unresolved issues.
Ah, yes but not too difficult I think if you know someone that
worked on the design team, at Harris R.F. Communications. Hint!
HARRIS: RF-601 Antenna tuner, the 37 conductor control needs the MS
connector installed. Oh !! This close space soldering takes my full patient
time and coolness, I really hate burning any adjoining wires.
If you think that is difficult, try doing it on an antenna mast, at sea
headed to Guam, through 20 foot seas and rain.
Hint: first get a lady with small hands, show her soldering techniques
then promise her anything, if she will do this small favor, explain that
most "Women" can't do it, Duck, Apologize, plead, offer money, or
a night on the town. I found that even with my abilities, the ladies at
Harris in Production did this job BEST!
