Rich & Group,
I knew I had seen "AMD" somewhere but a short database search didn't turn up
anything. Then I remembered that I have been supposed to scan the NAVSHIPS on
the AN/FRR-49(V) for some time now (R-5007 is a component) so I went looking
for the original. Nothing in there on the AMD. But I also have the earlier
civilian TMC manual on the FFR, which is what TMC called the receiver. In the
back of this manual I found a supplement on the AMD (or AMD-1 - TMC was always
very sloppy about consistency in suffix numbers). $6.00 for a reprint shipped
CONUS.
However, AMD (AMD-1) is not a RATT demodulator. It is a remote tuning
control unit that converts audio tones to DC that is then applied to the reactance
modulator of the HFO and/or BFO in the FFR (R-5007 and associated plug-in
tuning drawers).
