Chris,

I have not worked on such a problem but I do have a GPR-90.  As far as I 
have seen the drift in it is normal for a thing of its nature..(LC- tunable 
local oscillator with non-oven temperature control but high quality 
components)   Tell me how much yours drifts and on what band.

I will, of course, be interested in what you discover.  Background reading 
on this would include those articles of the 50's and 60's about tube type 
VFO's  in QST.
