Hi All,

Well... The above has arrived here after a couple
tense days when UPS put the wrong city on their
label (which they of course pasted over the label
with the CORRECT info made by the seller) thereby
prompting several calls to them to make SURE it
ended up here and NOT at the local Indian Casino :)

The unit looks in fairly good shape, with some
slight bending of the rear apron and the side
panels (inward) on the top rear areas. There
are no covers with the unit, including the one
for the crystal boxes and the 3-section slug
tuning box on the bottom. I imagine the last
three (2 xtal covers and slug cover) can be
machined out of copper or copper coated alum
or silver plated steel (ala Coil Plating proc)
without too much trouble. The cover for the main
tuning, driver, and output stages is also missing.
And of course all the fasteners for the above covers
(and some for the xtal mounting panels) are also gone.

Also MIA are CR101, CR102, K101, the tube (6U8)
atop Z105, V101-103 (6AB4 x3), panel meter,
several knobs; METER SWITCH, MF XTAL SWITCH,
BAND MCS, and the knob&shaft for OUTPUT.
The CARRIER INSERT knob is also broken, but
is still functional for the time being.
All of the 'locking' mechanisms are intact.

J111 and J112, USB/LSB OUT (respectivly) on
the rear apron are also missing, but I see
no associated circuitry inside that looks
like it's been disturbed, so I'm thinking
these (outputs) might have been optional ???

The bottom xtal box is fully populated with;
8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 11, 13, 17 MC crystals in
that order in Y101 thru Y108. The xtal box
on the top is totally vacant of rocks :(

I don't plan on parting this out, so don't ask :)
I've spent too long waiting to get my hands on one.
So, if anyone has these parts or knows where they
can be found, please drop me a line.

I think I have the 6U8 tube (or a 6EA8), and I can
cut up an old clothes dryer for the metal needed
for the covers - the xtals (once I find out what
cuts I need) I can probably order from JR.

I have yet to test the tubes in attendance.
I may get to that a little later tonight.

The rest ? I'm relying on info/tips from those that
have been around these units more than I have.

Meter specs (OEM brand/model) would be nice,
so I could start searching around for one.

The wires (with the inline resistors) from both the
POWER and the OVEN lamps are loose, and I'm not sure
where they were connected. I suppose when I get a
schematic, this will become clear :)

Noticed as I was examing this, that there are two
SEPERATE input selector switches for each sideband!
Does this mean that a different program can be trans-
mitted on each SB ? Maybe voice on LSB and data on
USB at the same time ? And for AM operation, would
this procedure include driving both SB's with the
same audio (eg MIKE) and adjusting the CARRIER INSERT
to the proper level ? Just guessing...

And lastly (for now :), can someone explain why there
is a SQUELCH GAIN control/circuit on an exciter/osc ?
I thought that was a function of 'reception'... :-/

Going to be checking with Bill, as someone here
suggested, to obtain the connector for J109, then
it's on to the PS :)

73 4 now,
