My newly aquired GPR-90 has been gone thru per the manual. However,
they mention that the 455kc alignment procedures is in liu of the
"sweep" method for the IF's. How do you use the "sweep" method if they
don't give them to you in the book? Or is this something everyone
should know anyway? Not that i have a sweep gen to do the job but i
might be able to find someone who does have the equipment and knowhow to
do so.
I also notice that when i use the xtal calibrator, particularly on band
3, 3.3-5.5 mc, the signal is really unstable and its hard to get a zero
beat. Seems like L15 (Osc. tuning xfmr) in the tuning steps is also
quite unstable. Like something is intermittant. Unfortunately when i
had the receiver out of the cabinet i didn't correlate the two
symptoms. L-18 on band 6 gives the same results. It seems like the
slugs are mechanically unstable. Any suggestions on how to correct this
without having to tear out the insides of the receiver?
Nice looking and sounding radio.
