Hi,
I recently purchased a used AEA/Timewave PK-232MBX with upgrades. What are
your recommendations on how best to connect this TNC up to my ICOM
IC-756ProII?
Based on my review of the pertinent documentation (Timewave manual, IC-756
ProII manual and various "how to" websites), I've decided that there are 2
basic ways to interface the PK-232MBX with the IC-756 ProII:
1. Microphone connection. Use a cable to connect the TNC to the
756ProII's microphone connector (8-pin round) and a audio cable to the
external speaker jack);
Same as above but avoid the separate audio cable by taking the RX audio from
pin #8 on the mic connector; or
2. ACC(1) connection. Use a cable to connect the TNC to the 756ProII's
ACC(1) socket (8-pin);
Same as above but use a second cable to connect the TNC's FSK socket to
other pins in the ACC(1) socket;
My gut reaction is that the ACC(1) connection is probably the best way to
connect the TNC to the 756ProII. What are your recommendations and why?
