All:
The reason this issue is showing up only under Amtor/Pactor FEC mode is
due to the firmware design of the Pk-232/900/2232/232. Rather than
being consitant with the way it handles CW, RTTY and ASCII (like some
other TNCs brands), the Pk-232 uses a totally different sequence of
commands to handle transmit and receive FEC. This is not Timewave's
fault, nor AEAs, but the design of the firmware back in the 1980's.
CSS, like every other ham company, is very small. It's just myself and
my wife Sydney (KF4WGU) and that's it. Both XPWare (Gary Johnson) and
Interflex (jeff Towel) are just one person companies, and neither are
interested in enhancing their products in the future.
Another issue is that with freeware PSK-31, MFSK and MT63 programs, the
TNC market has taken a nose dive. A majority of hams would rather get
freeware, than support their fellow ham trying to make a living from
this.
No, I don't have a day job like Gary, Jeff or many others, this is my
day job.
So I have to work with the tools that I have, and when I take time to
respond to issues and support calls, that takes away from the
development time.
Don't think I'm rolling in dough either, CSS lost $25,000 trying to
support the ham software market last year.

Bill,
What problems are you having with AMTOR and PK-TERM? I'm using PK-TERM
for Windows (v1.5.4) on MARS and not seeing any obvious problems. What
should I be looking for?

I am using V1.6 on Mars Amtor - Receives ok - on transmit when after I
type message in bottom screen and hit enter or F4 the message dissapears
- transmitter keys but no data sent and transmitter will eventually
unkey or sometimes the message will be sent or half of the message will
be sent. When you try to send another message - part of the previous
message may be sent before the new message is sent. I was contacted by
Rick at CSS and he could duplicate my problem and said a cure is
forthcoming.
