The only thought that comes immediately to mind is that, for unknown
reasons, the 17 left at various intervals but the listserv reported
them to you all at once in a collected bunch/summary.

The information to determine that it happened that way might have been
omitted from the notice you received or have been formulated in a way
that let you overlook the spread of leaving dates/times.

If neither of those is the case and they're clearly time stamped at
about the same time, I can't even guess.

I suppose you could send email to one or several of the unsubscribing
addresses and ask.  As you're our long-time and trusted List Mom, I
doubt anyone would take offense.

No  blacksmithing news from me, sorry to say.  I've gotten too old to
go out and work in an unheated shop when it's single digits (F)
outside.  I even slack off on splitting firewood when it's that cold.
A friend who used to live in Timmins, Ontario accuses me of wimping
out when it isn't colder that 40 below.  He's right.  :-)  But then,
*he* lives *here* now where it never gets any where near that cold.
