Frosty, my post was not intended to be political.  Too many people lost
their lives there in NC.

I never lived in the mountains, only hill country.  But even there, you
could easily see the consequences of a heavy rain yet alone, several feet
in a relatively short time.

In China, I  passed through a veery steep, mountain area.  It was maybe 60
degrees.  A flood had come down that mountain just before I  got there and
the water mark on the houses showed it was over 3' deep.

The point is, the folks in NC should have known what could happen with that
much rain. So why did so many not evacuate when there was plenty of time to
do so?

This is not a political issue!  It is a tragedy that should not be
repeated, and that needs to be investigated scientifically.
