[TheForge] Deleting excess from emails

Morning guys. I've been subscribed to theforge list since the mid 80s I THINK when I stumbled into a conversation between Chris Ray and someone else regarding treadle hammers. The list Mom at that time and pretty much non-stop since has been trying to get members to "trim the tail" (delete all the headers, footers and past messages.)
The list OS has always had trouble with message length and all the wasted bandwidth. I don't think anybody will ever get people to do any more than absolutely necessary. I know it's true on the forum I normally hang out on, people sometimes quote entire threads just to say cool, or I agree.
Frankly there is NO excuse for not trimming the junk, If you can not edit or "Cut and Paste" the bit relevant to your reply then read the directions for your phone! Of course there isn't much to be done with folk too lazy to bother.
And, NO this is from a laptop, I use my Iphone to talk to people.
Sorry about the rant, Frosty.
