I had been smithing for some time before I watched one of Heshel's videos, but it had a major impact.  From all of the reading I had done I was worried about anvil height, my stance, the proper hammer etc.  Then I watched Hershel bent kneed and bent armed whaling away with a short handled hammer with a worn head and REAL intent making incredible stuff.  After that I worried less if I was doing it right and hammered more.  Then came skill.  He cast a long shadow in the muzzleloading and blacksmithing world and he will be missed.
