I'm sure that the ABANA trailer is locked up tight, since there's like
$10,000 of forges plus other
equipment in it. A key or combination for the lock will have to be provided
to the person checking the trailer.
Hence, we're still subject to the speed of the ABANA board in getting
anything done.
Mark, do you have contacts among the Pennsylvania smithing groups? Maybe,
someone with a car or truck could help with the
pick up of the collection when we can get access to the inside of the
trailer.
I agree we could pass the hat to help cover shipping costs.

Mark,

A car would suffice. The box isn't that big and I expect one man can heft
it with no trouble.

If you're really interested in pursuing this -- becoming the caretaker of
the collection and making it available for meets (a big responsibility
formerly held and taken quite seriously by the late Bill Clemmens) -- I
suggest you present your *bona fides* directly to the ABANA Board. It
certainly sounds like the collection needs a new caretaker (and champion).

Bill used to haul the box himself to east coast meets, but I believe he
shipped it to meets further afield. I expect he picked up the costs of
doing so, but I expect that this group could come up with the shipping costs
among ourselves if that be necessary.
