Black smithing was dropped for many years, I have an original book from the thirties somewhere with the requirements which included forge welding. It was added back fifteen years ago maybe, can’t remember. I have taught a lot of scouts before and after it was brought back. It is a part of the metalworking merit badge. Actually one of the forge members helped create it working with other ABANA members, Jack Andrews also was a part of it, will have to look in my folders on my old laptop to find the name.
Here is an online list of the metalworking merit badge requirements.
