[TheForge] Another stupid mask idea -- no metal content

Calking a mask to your face ISN'T an April's fools prank? That is just too
good a straight line to leave be but I'm afraid you actually might be
serious. Plumbers's or Glazer's putty can be removed from hair with a little
cooking oil or butter.
However rather than do something that entertaining without posting pics for
us to enjoy. You'd go much better to make a full head cover. Use a large
clear plastic bag, that will cover your head, neck ad tuck into a shirt or
jacket. Cut a space to clear a mask after marking the position while on your
head. Seal the two together with duct tape, inside and out.
Have you never read Science Fiction?
Even though there are work arounds to the mask/beard thing and I've seen too
many reports about aerosolized virus passing N-95 masks so wearing a mask is
only really effective keeping the infected from spraying others. Not so good
keeping it off and out of the wearer. The whole 20' thing is another example
of people posting advice without understanding the source material. The 20'
spread is for a number of aerosolized micro organism particles per sq.
meter. and used as a metric for determining an organism's level of
infectiousness. I'm not really clear, it didn't really apply to this
situation so I ignore such " from a good friend sent, reliable source, etc."
posts.
Making masks on the other hand may become the only alternative and your
points about how absorbent cotton is combined with my thoughts about
quilting has me wondering about a solid layer of cotton balls in the quilt.
I keep forgetting to bounce the copper mask infusion idea off a friend who
actually is closely related with epidemiology.
You made a comment about equal opportunity stupidity. Personally I'm all in
favor of natural selection especially if it chlorinates the gene pool before
the stupid gene is passed along.
So, tell me Bruce what is so special about your beard that makes it worth
taking an unnecessary chance with your life?
Mine is just hair, it'll go in a heart beat if I have to use a Bic lighter.
A surprisingly painless way to get crazy close hairless skin. I'll probably
just lather up and shave though.

Oh no! Not your BEARD! How's anybody gonna tell you from ... a *girl!?
*(Yeah,
right.)
Nope, my previous post wasn't meant as a joke. I actually think the wax
idea might work. But I'm not in a rush to test it myself -- no need.
And I disagree about masks not protecting us. Stand in front of a mirror or
glass and cough or sneeze. Now look at the pattern of droplets on the
glass. I just read an article suggesting those droplets can travel 20 feet.
*That's* what I'm trying to stop from getting in my face, with my face
shield and mask.
This is equal opportunity stupidity.
BTW, congrats to your Governor. He's one of the few Republican governors to
take COVID-19 seriously, and apparently he did an exceptional job of it and
could be a model for all the other Governors of either party. I just hope
it's not too little and too late for everybody else.
Hang in there,
Bruce
