hello

i was just watching a history program covering the various archelogical
digs in the United Kingdom. The one dig discovered a blacksmith shop
with stone anvils and evidence of early copper working. Given the layers
of peat the site is well preserved. Wood timbers and leather shoes
survived because of the peat layers. they found a store of coke for the
fire. the blacksmith worked by kneeling down infront of the fire and the
anvil stones. the one anvil stone has the black colored handprints of
the blacksmith still on the anvil stone. they found the tuyere from the
leather bellows. The blacksmith had a helper who pumped the bellows.
I am not sure if the series is on dvd I will check later.
The program is Digging for Britain on BBC Four.
BritBox may have it, I have not checked for it.
