Sorry to hear about your girlfriend's stroke Bruce. Hope she has a fast recovery.

As to scotch bright, I used to use those green pads all the time. If you go to a woodworking store, you will find them in grits up to about 1200 and you can order them online much higher. That was six years ago and I haven't kept up with what and who is providing what online or in the stores.
