Glad to hear you're all right and the damage was minimal. I bet that dresser will be secured before Deb gets back. 😊
Any of your trees come down from the quake?
More good luck to you.

All's well on the Frost farmstead. Lots fell off shelves but surprisingly little breakage a couple picture frames one shall mirror a coffee mug and such. Critters are all okay but Baxter one of our Doxies didn't come downstairs with me that morning and rode it out on the second floor. A dresser I've been meaning to screw to the wall for about 20 years now tipped over onto the bed he was sleeping in. He's badly shaken but makes a great aftershock warning system.
Deb's in Texas and I'm glad, the dresser would've landed on her.
I salute Alaska building codes and thumb my nose at contractors who whine about how expensive it is to abide by them! Any public buildings have to be built to withstand a R9+ earthquake since the '64 Good Friday quake and no large buildings suffered structural damage, lots of damage but no structural damage. No reports of fatalities nor serious injuries yet either.
Roads and bridges took hits, our road is closed but that was the fault of the engineers who used a technique not suitable in earthquake country but it was new, flashy and inexpensive compared to doing it the old fashioned way. Nobody in the "modern" world excavates to good bearing and back fills with material water can flow through and so on. Oh no that's just not done in the lower 48. Yeah, google the videos and various pics of the Vine Rd. closure. The helo videos show the results of surcharging saturated organics for a fill section, road foundation. Looks like a fat boy stomped a cow pie.
The ramp grade failure were surcharged over saturated organics too. Bet the construction technique isn't going to be used to repair the damage or new structures.
I've been too busy doing pick up in the house to check the shop. I might even take a couple pics if a r7.2 earthquake can mess it up more than usual.
Thanks for asking. We be good here. ;)

Hope all is alright with Frosty given the quake in Alaska. Anyone heard anything from him?
Charles
