[TheForge] a choice between two tools

hello

several friends have made me an offer; to celebrate my 65th birthday
they are offering me a choice. so i have roughly 2 months to decide.

a CNC laser cutter.
cut 1/2 thick plywood and thin gauge sheet metal

a CNC 3D engraver/carver
basically for wood or engineered wood products
useful in making patterns for casting.

both with a 1 meter by 1 meter table.
both have the same controller.

really, the only difference is the Z-Axis and the tool.
would not be that difficult to adapt it to use the other Z-Axis and
tool.

The novelty will wear off and then I would need to use it more than once
a month or quarter.

I have also considered suggesting an alternative "tool".
A 3D printer which uses wax for the printing media.
useful in making patterns and models.
one advantage of this "tool" is less sawdust and debris to clean up.
ideal with lost wax investment casting. small items.

there is also the option of donating the money to the Salvation Army.
Do I really need another "tool"?
