[TheForge] fish plates? just how big are they?

To fish plate a complex curve.. YOu need to form the metal in one fell
swoop.. Or you can notch the fish plate as you move from one starting point
to the next..
If you are industrious you can take a sheet of plain white paper and with
some scotch tape.. Tape down one side.. Not top and bottom.. but one side..
now start working the other direction.. Anyplace the paper wants to stand
up or create a fold is where the metal will pinch together..
Ideally you can just notch it at the point until the paper lays flat..
without bunching/folding..
Each cut will have to be welded but it doesn't need to be a full
penetration weld.. Just the top sheet.. It's taking me long to explain it
than it would to show in person..
