hello

i am looking to make several metal tree mounts for trail cameras. the
cameras are for wildlife research and NOT for hunting. all the trail
camaras have a tripod screw hole. normally, they are held to the tree
by a cotton webbing strap with a buckle. that works for small diameter
trees that you are able to reach around. The larger trees the strap
becomes excessively long.

some commercial mounts are just treaded spikes that screw into the tree
and have a flat with a hole for a 1/4-20 thumbscrew to screw into the
tripod hole on the trail camera.

i really need something which does not harm or damage the tree .
I am a firm believer in the KISS[1] principle.

suggestions hints comments welcomed.
