I did a little research yesterday and saw some write-ups on the process 
but as usual, they didn't agree.  Some showed that you hammered from the 
back where others noted that you didn't want the good face against the 
anvil.  I did see one that talked about the LG tooling but no details.

I found an interesting ad in a 1911 publication.  They would sharpen 
10-14" shares for 35 cents each...... Putting this in perspective, they 
had an ad for a 25x40, 2 story, powered shop with all tooling, 2 forges, 
hydraulic tire setter, line shafts, 8hp engine and a good connecting 
house for $2,000.
