Oh no Mark, that's not t he kind of tree killing I used to do. Here in S.C.
(South Central) Alaska our trees aren't worth climbing to top, 70' is a BIG
tree here. If you go to S.E (South East) Alaska you find BIG trees, 200'+
Douglas fir are common.
I was cutting fire wood and one did the unexpected when it went down. I
won't go into the story again, it's enough to say it got me good. Felling
trees is like drinking from the well, no matter how careful you are sooner
or later you're going to drop the dipper.
Never let your guard down and even then sometimes the bad thing doesn't have
readable signs. I don't even walk in the woods on windy days.
The really, truly humbling miracle is how many of you guys were praying for
me. That was some serious mojo you guys put on my case and I'm grateful to
be alive. I don't remember if I ever said thank you.
Thanks guys it worked, pulled my irons out of the fire.
Jer

You are a miracle, Jerry!! I remember that all too well...This is very sad
news. That is a profession that will take you out in the blink of an eye. I
marvel at the pro's when I watch them scale the trees, tie them off and work
their way down to a stump, and then grind it.

That is hard news and strikes too close to home. In '09 I came as close as
you can get to having my obit published as result of a tree cutting
accident.
My prayers go out or him, his family and friends.
