I have done some forging on titanium. You have to work it real hot, 
yellow almost white. When it drops to red it stops moving. When it is 
hot enough it moves like butter but can harden completely between hammer 
strikes.  It forms a very tough scale that will eat belts to clean up. 
It is hard to cut, I use a hot cut under the treadle hammer. I have no 
idea about welding it, but think it burns like magnesium if you get it 
too hot.
