OTOH, we're using 1/4" steel firepots -- fabricated specifically to be
light weight -- and are having no problem with them. I wouldn't put them
up against a 3/4" thick cast iron pot, but they do work.
I think the pot dimentions and proportions, and the direction in which the
air enters the pot matter a lot, independent of the material or thickness.
