[TheForge] Flat black finish

[Dave Smucker]

This is an often repeated "tail" and may have some truth to it.  Mostly because urine contains salt and would reduce the formation of a stable steam layer -- resulting in a faster quench.    No idea on the red hair.

One of the specific, if odd, suggestions in metal treatment from the Middle
Ages, was to quench steel in the urine of a red-headed boy. No idea what it
does, but it's in the literature. Perhaps I should go find you the quote...
