It should work.
I often Tig weld on other copper alloys, with a silicon bronze filler rod.
I dont preheat- and, with tig, I run at lower amps than I would for steel.
I would start low, and turn it up if it doesnt melt the parent metal.
The problem is going to be- "similar alloy".
There are dozens of copper alloys, and the idea that "brass", or "bronze" means anything is usually wrong.
So, how it will mig weld will depend on how much lead and zinc is in it.
If its 360 brass, leaded, it may pop and smoke a bit, but with tig, I can always put enough silicon bronze in the weld that it fills the pops from the lower melting point metals evaporating.
silicon bronze filler will stick to most common copper alloys.
