I don't know of a "blacksmith in Space" novel though blacksmiths are pretty
common in Sci Fi. Terry has a better list than I can recall off the top of
my head. IIRC most don't actually take place in space though. I think the
problem with astrosmithing (or would that be smithingnauts?) stories is
figuring stones in zero G. I can see the add in Craigsorbit now. For sale:

A 3D printer will forever a precise, fussy and fragile machine requiring
precise feedstocks and clean power.
it'll be a wonderful tool when things are going well.
A blacksmith with minimal tools can function under very rough conditions
with old metal scrap as feedstock, and still be working well after things
have gone to hell.
Both are desirable.
