Was the hammer being used with this set up? Did it work? My math (witch
isn't great) says this set up should have it running about 275 rpm. I'm used
to my Kinyon style air hammers and they only run about half that fast.

Subject: [TheForge] Little Giant / pulley / rpm / ???
Good evening kids,
I am setting up a nice 25# Little Giant hammer and i have some questions.
This hammer came with a 1-1/2 hp. motor connected to a speed reducer.
The motor turns at 1725 rpm, connected to a reducer that is 5:1. The output
of the reducer is connected to an 8" flat belt pulley and the hammer has a
10" flat belt pulley..........
Of course the question is, How fast will the hammer be turning if I use
this set up?
I don't recall ever seeing a hammer set up in such a fashion, on the other
hand I haven't
seen everything by a long shot. So why do you think that the hammer was set
up like this?
In the book, "The Little Giant Powerhammer" by Richard Kern it says that
the speed should be around 375 rpm.
Thanks,
dave m
