At one time I was going to write a book about the 20 years I spent drilling.
The title was going to be, "Beyond The End Of The Road To Nowhere,"
subtitled (or whatever it's called) The road to nowhere has 4 ends, one at
each end and two in the middle. I was actually keeping a journal for a while
till I realized I was just writing about things that pissed me off.

Do it Jerry! Please!

Can't do it Pete, too negative. Ever been in a discussion thinking "Geeze,
what a BUTTHEAD!" Only to realize later I was the butthead. Besides I
burned the journal a long time ago, just too negative in spite of some great
stories. Nothing really worth publishing but some cool stories.

Don't they make the anti corrosion additive for radiators anymore? When I
started using the plastic gasket material and SS bolts the corrosion in the
thermostat cap (top radiator hose fitting) dropped way off. I never had
trouble with the thermostats themselves. Uh, you ARE using antifreeze aren't
you? The modern stuff makes a really REALLY lousy electrolite.

I have been, though didn't have SS bolts that fit when last i did it. The
real problem is that the truck sits unused for months at a time and the
rust perforated cab provides little protection externally.

Yeah, it's probably cost you more in time and money many times over than a
new rig would cost. Been there, a little streak of stubborn tells me I will
NOT give up, this blankety blank thing WILL do what I want. It's the same
thing that makes us turn our inner visions into metal. Sometimes not to
share the vision but more to just MAKE IT HAPPEN.

If there wasn’t that stubborn streak in us, we’d be doing something easier.

Jer

Classic! Expensive flub blubs!
Well, i made the delivery, with 6 stops ,fooling with the timing and trying
to thump the stuck thermostat loose.
Running hot as hell all the way!
That thermostat housing is aluminum on a cast iron head with brass and
stainless thermostat. This will make the 3rd time i've had to replace it! Can
you say, " mixed metal corrosion>" Grrrr.
