[TheForge] Metallurgy question for Mike already.

Mike: An acquaintance was given a quantity of 1/2" steel and it's hot short at high red. It's strongly magnetic, sparks like mild and cuts easily with a hacksaw. It forges at low red but cracks and breaks at high red or above. It doesn't cottage cheese it just breaks off. I've suggested he try forging cold but he won't get to it till maybe tonight his time, I'll get back if anything interesting happens.

I have an idea but am not going to mention it, I don't want to taint your opinion, these are the conditions best I know.

Any ideas?

Frosty
