[TheForge] I SHOULD know the answer to this.

The odorizing agent is "mercaptan" oil and it's a little different for
different flammable gasses. The smell is similar but not the same, EMTs have
to be able to recognize hazards quickly. LP is heavier than air and collects
in low places while Methane is lighter and rises. different hazards,
different methods of fire/explosion, choking mitigation. It's the details
that get you.
Propane is much more chemically active than most other fuel gasses. If the
components aren't made for propane it's likely to degrade it rather rapidly
and can cause a failure.
The Gas guy who works on our appliances and the guys at the welding gas
supplier both say never change gasses even using rated components. The
Amerigas guy says whatever gas you use first is all you should ever use in
it. He says he gets really jumpy around guys who feed propane through
acetylene regulators and hoses.
This isn't a factor for iron pipe of course.
Deb and I are doing pretty well thank you Mike. You and yours?
Jerry

Might be.
LP smells different to me.
"sweeter" less skunk like.
But like I said I just never asked the question.
I am seeing some hoses rated for both, some just for LP.
The hoses are not that pricey. I'll probably just order one of the dual
rated ones. I see one with 1/2 NPT ends attached that would make buying
adapters unnecessary.
How you doing Mark?
