Last night was the coldest night here in my corner of Nova Scotia in
many years, 5 below, the accumulated snowfall is the most since 1990
and, before they sanded our road yesterday, I could say that I'd
voluntarily gone skating on worse ice surfaces.

OTOH, the last time I was in Vermont, 1976, it was 20 below at dusk
somewhere near White River Junction, 25 below before we got to Epsom,
NH and, after a warm-up break in Epsom, we drove through a blizzard from
there all the way to the Canadian border at Calais, ME.  So I feel a
little sheepish when I grumble about 5 below and some snow when I can
set by the fire and look out at it.

Close personal friend of Toasty, (You hear that, you out there in the
sky?  Listen up!)
