[TheForge] something I hope

I'd really like to Pete but it's not in the cards, may never be. I didn't
even know ABANA existed when I lived in Simi Valley, heck I owned property
on Lake Nacmiento just uphill from San Louis Abispo. The biggest event I've
ever attended was one at Tunnel Mill in the late 90's. Just being in the
company of so many blacksmiths was a treat. I had no idea who that Tom
Latane guy was but he was sure eating up bear stories at lunch. Then I was
totally gob smacked when he did a little demo and showed off some of his
work.

While there are advantages to living pretty remote being so far from large
populations has it's downside too. I could drive from NY city to Hollister
faster than I could from here and not need a passport.

Jer

You, Mr Frost are a steel molesting wag! Church key indeed!
Wish you could make it to the Western States conference in Hollister on
Thursday.
Most of the ABANA conferences seem to be back east with a few mostly still
to distant to be practical.
This one is only 3 hours away and i'm stoked! Gotta be much worse for you
Jerry.
The ABANA conference in San Louis Obispo years ago, changed my life, and i'm
ever so grateful. I was entirely self taught for 15 years and WOW!!!
Finished polishing my little bronze forgings and laid on the varnish this
evening.
Gotta cover them up once the varnish has dried, so the shop bats don't add
to the patina.

Jer,
Melting(slumping) glass into steel cavities was done by Ivan Bailey(ABANA
founder) many years ago. It certainly does work . Even for me.

It's not firewood, it's a vaasse.
