Erosion? From the goats? Not following. Goats love the steep.
They do! I've seen them on the Channel Islands leaping about on impossible inclines. I've also noted that there is no topsoil and vegetation left on those slopes. It's the vegetation that holds this ridge from sliding into the ocean like my last house. It is clay, soil and shattered rock on 3 points of the compass, all steeper than the angle of repose...And it's a long way to slide. I've had to work hard for every square foot of flat space and to stabilize the slopes...Planted over 1000 trees and innumerable shrubs.
If i see a goat here, i'll shoot it promptly. Poison oak turned out to be my friend, unexpectedly.
Big kitties love goats!! I finally gave up on chickens because of all the wildlife i had to kill to protect them.
Yeah...I have the US forest service right across the street. The folks on the ground can be pretty good, but the admin is ...sigh.

About 3 months ago I came within 30 feet of flattening a mountain lion with the 4runner. We also have big black kitties here, too. DNR denies the existence of either in WV. DNR are eediots.

Now THAT is a reason to which I can relate.

But when put into a pile and given a couple of months to cook, the result is truly nonpareil. ANYTHING will grow in this. Unfortunately, that includes the weeds, so you will be very busy cultivating. This year I had three absolutely humongous Jimson weeds sprout from the potato beds. They disgorged tens of thousands of scopolamine-laden seeds into ground. Next year should be interesting.
