You could build this next to an outside wall and it really doesn't have to
be sheet metal, it could just be a large box lined with dry wall, I would
use a double layer, then a stud wall and ceiling with insulation and outside
sheathing.  Basically your build an addition to your shop that holds the
stove a safe distance from walls and draws air from the shop (low) and
returns air with a fan high up.  Combustion air would still come from the
shop as it does now.  It is just a bitch to add wood to the fire when it is
cold and raining outside but can heat just as effectively less some small
loss to what you have now.
