As far as finding 1/4 x 1/16, you may be able to find it in cold rolled. 
Or check with a sheetmetal shop or fab shop and have them shear some 16 
ga sheet. In that size shorter lengths are better than longer pieces. 
Thin narrow strips tend to corkscrew due to the cutting angle of the 
sheer blade. If you need 2" long pieces have them sheared from a two 
inch wide strip of 16 ga.  What size and how many do you need?

If you need a thousand pounds of 1/4 x1/16 then you can get a specialty 
wire house to roll rectangular wire that size, or you might be able to 
find a company that does custom slitting to slit some 16ga for you.
