Re the post about the Miller Trailblazer...
I bought one of these new about 6-7 years ago to use as a power source
on ironwork installation jobs where power wasn't available or it was
simply more convenient to me and the client if I had my own power. Big
plus is being able to run a Miller Dynasty 200 TIG/stick inverter off
the 240V plug, plus other power tools. Also, I have a Miller 12VS wire
feeder and it runs that great w/ either bare wire or flux core w/ a
1/16" dia flux core low hydrogen wire. Three weeks ago I used it as a
power source in an ice storm when power was out for several days. It is
a 10-12 kw genset.
I've only got maybe 120 hours on it but so far it is a very good unit.
I only wish mine had the air compressor option. The ability to use a
plasma out in the middle of nowhere, esp on rusty/cruddy material like
oilfield pipe - instead of a cutting torch - would be great.
My other portable unit is a Lincoln SA-200 which is a great stick unit
but it only puts out 12V DC for power tools, so that's limiting. I
doubt the Miller will last anywhere near as long as the Lincoln but for
the price, I can buy multiple Millers for 1 Lincoln.
I would buy it at the $200 price if it were close enough. The cherry
picker sounds interesting too.
