Watch stem cell research.  THAT's how tissues really could be regenerated
in the body.   From the little I've read, some organs, like kidneys, need a
framework to grow on, and there's been some success with that.  (That's in
order to grow an adult-sized organ.  Presumably one could grow a
fetus-sized kidney directly from cells, but then you'd have to wait for it
to "grow up"!)  There's been progress made, just not fast enough for us.
