[TheForge] No idea too hare-brained

I wear Carolina foundry boots, made in USA version. Steel toe and
metatarsal cover. A little heavy and hot but stuff just bounces off your
foot. I am sure they have saved me from breaking bones a few times. A piece
of 1/2 x 4 cutting edge took chunks out of my shins and bounced off the
boots last winter, I was very glad for them that day.
Sole is high temp so welding rod stubs and hot punchouts don't burn in.
Problem is I get used to not pulling my feet out from under falling things
and wearing sneakers can be painful. I have been using shoe goop on the
fronts of my boots for over twenty years, put it on before I start wearing
them and the fronts never wear out. I saw that red wing was selling a glue
on toe cap a few years ago
