For plasma, I would pretty much stick with Hypertherm. The best in the market, made in America, and at the forefront, always, of technological advances- which means better consumable life, better cut quality. Whichever size you buy, you wont be sorry.
Tig, I am a miller man. Depends on the job- I own two, one transformer style Syncrowave 250, and one Inverter- an XMT 304. The XMT was more expensive, but is 1/4 the size, 1/4 the weight, and will do anything.
If I needed a small one, and I didnt need aluminum, I would be looking at the Maxstar's. I have rented em, they are awesome machines. Tiny, but powerful.
