If you had to cut the steel toe away, then in all likely hood your toes 
would have been jelly and candidates for amputation without them.?? This 
comes up in industry periodically and every study I have seen off quality 
boots is that in all cases you are better with them then without.??? If 
needed I suppose I would rework the toe, but I have a Landis K Stitcher, a 
900lbs machine for stitching soles to a goodyear style welt.?
