As a RN for 30 years I have to disagree with your statement. American
healthcare can always improve, but it's some of the best in the world. I
have found that the more the government attempts to control Health Care
decisions the worse the outcome. For example, this recent article:

The horror stories coming out British NHS hospitals about the care are
incomprehensible to me as an American nurse.
American Health Care is far from perfect, but I would rather be here than
another country for health care.
If you want to argue that US Health Care in unevenly distributed, there's
some valid points to be made.
Anyway, I don't want to go off-topic on this list. So, I'll just end this
here.

Can you imagine what it's like to be in the white coat yourself....
Overworked and underpaid, lacking sleep, under constant pressure from
hospital administrators  to do more with less, and inundated with bullship
paperwork, seeing an unending parade of beat-down and beat up patients.
half of whom are depressed or suicidal and don't care, and the other half
are arrogant, demeaning, suspicious, and sure they are the most important
people in the world, all complaining and demanding and withholding critical
information?
Meanwhile, during the changeover to digital records from illegible doctor's
shorthand, neither kind of records are available when you need them....
and there is a waiting room full of poor bleeding souls waiting for their 10
minutes of your time....
Lowest bidder services isn't always the best way to go.
