Not to make light of yer lumps from the tree, but I'm catching up with
you  without any arborial assistance. 

Confession: I couldn't remember "whatchacallit compound" either but
but there's this nice Linux/Unix thing called grep. Grepped through my
archive of eveything I've emailed since 2000 for "compound", found
"lapping compound" in a post I made in 2003.

My memory gets less and less like an erudite librarian and more and
more like a cardboard box full of scribbled paper scraps.  Routinely
putting stuff I'm likely to forget into text files on my computer
automates (to some extent) groveling through the box, helps me fake
it.
