Hello,
I am also just entering the craft and taking my first class this Saturday. I am in the Haverhill, MA area and will be building a smithy in my backyard over the summer as finances permit. Any advice/ recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I plan on using a propane forge since I am in the city and would like to avoid the smoke/fumes.

Thank you very much for the information! Westminster is a bit of a drive for me but the one in Severna might work. I appreciate it!

You say that you live in the Baltimore County area. There are a number of
blacksmith clubs near you. The Blacksmith Guild of Central Maryland
www.bgcmonline.org meets in Westminster at the Carroll County Farm Museum.
Our next monthly meeting is Sunday, 14 April, starting at 9am. You are
welcome to stop buy and visit.

The Chesapeake Forge club meets at the Kinder Farm Park in Serverna Park MD.
http://www.chesapeakeforge.org/. Blacksmiths Guild of the Potomac
http://www.bgop.org/ meets in Arlington VA.

BGCM has its Annual BLACKSMITH DAYS at the Farm Museum, 18-19 May and BGOP
has it's SPRING FLING in Berryville, VA on 20-21 April. both of these
events have flea markets (we call them tailgating) where you can buy tools
and materials. There is an admission fee to attend these events.

Welcome to an addicting hobby/craft.

Respectfully,
Albin Drzewianowski
BGCM Secretary
