hello rowland;

i do not know how adventureous you may be but i would suggest that you
consider purchasing a raspberry pi computer. the raspberry pi computer
is smaller than an Apple iPhone 4/iPod Touch.

i purchased one and currently working on donating 100 raspberry pi
computers to a school in Wales.

the raspberry pi lends itself to being used for many projects given its
low cost and small footprint.
