[TheForge] Frosty, Got a question

I'm pretty sure it's still a US gvt. installation so removing anything would
be a federal crime but I could be wrong. Of course if there weren't
penalties I doubt there'd be anything left. Still, those tube computers sure
look inviting. I'm thinking this project predated the aurora generating
program of a few years back. It ended a few years, maybe a decade back. The
missle launch facility near Fairbanks launched various rockets with
different payloads of metals and minerals into the auroral bands to see what
kinds of light shows resulted. Not just for pretty lights but to analyze
various effects including on ground bound power grids.
Strong aurora were the cause of the great blackout on the east coast and
Canada back when.

If you can't resist some of that stuff and want to make the drive, stop by,
we're only about 360 miles south, it'll only be a couple days out of your
way. The Alcan takes you pretty directly to Fairbanks, Anchorage and Wasilla
are south, turn left at Tok and follow the signs. When you get to Palmer
turn left at the Palmer Wasilla highway, second light. Keep on going till it
ends at Knik Goose Bay rd. (known here abouts as the KGB) go about 6 miles
and watch for Vine Rd. turn right. We're about 1.3 miles on the left, some
500' after you pass Bonaparte rd. Don't hesitate to give a call for
directions.

Oh yeah, please don't stope by with a load of "salvaged" stuff please.
<grin>
